Smoothies have been a game changer for myself and my Health Coaching clients. They are easy to make, filling, delicious, and incredibly healthy. Plus they are an AMAZING tool for weight loss. I swear by them.

The beautiful part about my go-to smoothies is that they make perfect vehicles for a low-calorie, yet nutrient-laden snacks. This is due to the balance of protein, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, as well as vitamins and minerals.

Today I want to share with you one of my all time favorites, which I call my Energizing Fat-Burning Pina Colada Smoothie. This deliciously refreshing drink will boost your metabolic rate, give you more energy, and fill you up for hours.

Energizing Fat-Burning Pina Colada Smoothie

  • IMG_79991 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup filtered water
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • handful frozen pineapple
  • 1 Tbsp spirulina
  • Handful of spinach
  • Pinch of bee pollen

For this smoothie recipe place all of the ingredients into your high-speed blender and blend for around 30-45 seconds or until nice and smooth. If you don’t have a very powerful blender and your coconut oil is in liquid form, you might want to blend everything except the coconut oil first, then drizzle it on and blend for another 5-10 seconds to avoid clumping. As always, feel free to add and subtract ingredients based on what you prefer and have on hand.

Coconut oil is easy to digest, but also produces a longer sustained energy and increases your metabolism since it is sent directly to the liver to be converted into energy.

Spirulina, a blue-green algae, enhances energy performance because it unlocks sugar from our cells and, when frozen, the cold boosts metabolic energy while giving our bodies a “wake-up call.”

Bee pollen helps regulate hormones, and assists in increasing your metabolism by dissolving fat cells in the body. Studies have also shown that pollen helps in the recovery of muscle protein and energy metabolism.
